Christopher H. Warner, MD, MS, DFAPA, FAAFP

Psychiatrist

Dr. Warner is a US Army veteran with over twenty-five years of military service who currently serves as a Psychiatry Consultant to Thinkblot Behavioral Sciences and as the Medical Director for Behavioral Health for TriWest Healthcare Alliance. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, NY, Medical Degree from the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences in Bethesda, MD, and his Masters in National Security Strategy from the National War College. He completed his residency training in Family Practice and Psychiatry at Walter Reed Army Medical Center where he was named the General Graves B. Erskine Award winner as the top graduate. Throughout his career in military medicine, Dr. Warner advised senior United States Army leaders on mental health and general medical conditions and served as an advisor to some of the senior most medical personal in the Department of Defense. Dr Warner commanded Winn Army Community Hospital at Fort Stewart, Georgia and the 61st Multifunctional Medical Battalion at Fort Hood, Texas. Additionally, he served as the Consultant to The US Army Surgeon General for Psychiatry from 2012 to 2018.    

Dr Warner deployed twice in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom where he was noted for his efforts in pushing behavioral health care forward to maneuver units, mental health screening, and the relationship between battlefield ethics and mental health. He subsequently served as on of the United States representatives to the NATO scientific panel on mental health and moral dilemmas. Dr Warner is an Associate Professor of Psychiatry at the Uniformed Services University of Health Sciences and internationally recognized expert on military and veteran mental health.  He has published four books on military mental health and primary authored more than 50 articles including entries in the American Journal of Psychiatry, the Annals of Psychiatry, and Lancet. Dr Warner has previously sat on the editorial board of Academic Psychiatry and is a member of the American College of Psychiatrists and the Group for the Advancement of Psychiatry.
